AKW Reading Golf Day Raises £10,217.50 for CHaL

 

On 2nd October 2025, AKW supported a charity golf day at Wokefield Estate Golf Club in Reading, Berkshire in aid of Children’s Hospices Across London (CHaL).

Multiple teams took on the 18-hole course, as well as ‘Beat the Pro’ and ‘Yellow Ball’ team challenges, with the day concluding at the clubhouse where a hot evening buffet was served, followed by a fundraising raffle and auction.

£10,217.50 was raised for Children’s Hospices across London (CHaL), a group of six hospices that support children and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions and their families in London and in parts of the home counties.

AKW Tee Off for a Third Time for WDP

 

AKW returned to Houghwood Golf Club in St Helens to support Warrington Disability Partnership with a third annual golf day in June 2025.

17 teams of keen golfers spent a gloriously sunny day playing 18 holes under clear blue skies with temperatures soaring up to 28°C. Among the 66 players were AKW Sales Directors, representatives from The OT Service, CHIC and City Plumbing, and many more who came together to support the vital work WDP does for the disabled community.

A huge £9,500 was raised, funds which will go towards WDP’s operational costs, helping their team to carry on the great work they do every day.

AKW Attend Mears Foundation Charity Golf Day

 

On Tuesday 10th June 2025, AKW’s Vince Moorton, Richard Harding, Lee Culloty and Ashley Watkins dusted off their clubs and travelled to Brickhampton Court Golf Complex in Gloucester to support The Mears Foundation with their annual charity golf day.

The independent charitable arm of Mears Group, The Mears Foundation is a grant-making charity that seeks to harness the goodwill, talents, and skills within Mears Group to benefit charities or good causes that provide practical help and support to vulnerable people in communities within the UK.

20 teams took part in the event which raised approx. £8,500 and will be matched by Mears Group. Every pound raised will go towards funding projects that will help to alleviate poverty and isolation, and initiatives that create or regenerate green spaces, helping look after our planet for generations to come.

DLP Support Lions Club IOM Memorial Trophy Golf Tournament

 

In August 2024, members of the DLP team supported the Lions Club of the Isle of Man and took part in the Lion Fleet Simpson’s Memorial Trophy Golf Tournament at Peel Golf Club.

The Lions Club is a worldwide organisation of 1.5 million members who are dedicated to serving their local community and people in need, with the Isle of Man group having done so for 55 years.

Lena, Dan and Allison from DLP attended the fundraising golf event which was organised in memory of a past member, with all proceeds used to support to the Lions Club Charity initiative.

AKW Support WDP with Second Annual Golf Day

 

AKW supported WDP with a second Charity Golf Day in July 2024, this time at Houghwood Golf Club in St Helens, Merseyside. The event welcomed 64 players who tackled 18 holes sponsored by a variety of local businesses and individuals, helping the event to raise approximately £9,000.

Multiple awards kept the budding golfers on their toes, with prizes given for ‘Nearest the Pin in One’, ‘Nearest the Pin in Two’, and ‘Longest Drive’; there was also an opportunity to ‘Beat the Pro’ on the 8th hole, as well as several team competitions.

A delicious buffet lunch was provided with a raffle and auction also held to raise funds to renovate Warrington Disability Partnership’s static caravan which offers accessible holidays to all.

AKW Join WDP for 2023 Charity Golf Day

 

In September 2023, AKW directors, customers and friends gathered at Fiddlers Ferry Golf Club for a charity golf day hosted by our charity partner, Warrington Disability Partnership and supported by AKW.

Teams completed the 18-hole course and were challenged to take on professional golfer and world record holder, Paul Slater, in a longest drive contest on the final hole, which was followed by a raffle and auction of sports memorabilia.

£5,500 was raised on the day, with an additional £500 donated by AKW which went towards the WDP’s annual accessible Winter Wonderland Santa’s Grotto, which is visited by almost 3,000 local children each December.
