AKW’s print supplier, Commercial, have been on a sustainability journey since 2006 when they were the first business services organisation to become carbon neutral.
Since then, overall carbon production has reduced by more than 60%, while carbon intensity has lowered by 91%. Its ‘Commercial by Nature’ mantra commits to show how business can be a force for good in the world and they’ve received awards and accreditations, including the Queen’s Award for Sustainable Development in 2018, European Office Products Award for Sustainability Excellence in 2023.
Established in 2015, the Commercial Foundation provides opportunities to young adults aged between 16-25 who’ve experienced barriers to finding work, or accessing education or training.
The Foundation’s #NoLimits programme helps broaden skills, build confidence and develop self-esteem, by providing real-time, on-the-job work experience at their digital print studio. Volunteers gain experience producing high-quality digital print products and merchandise, and fulfilling orders from a range of clients – including us at AKW.
More than 130 young adults have volunteered so far, and more than 95% have found employment or accessed further training and education since.

Environmental Initiatives
Member of United Nations Global Compact, has received Planet Mark certification for 5 years, and is signatory to the Science Based Targets initiative bid limit global warming to less than 1.5 degrees by 2030
Carbon Net-Zero by 2028
Has set the ambitious target to achieve carbon net zero by 2028, 22 years ahead of government targets and 2 years ahead of the target they signed up to with the Science Based Targets initiative in 2021
Reducing Fleet Emissions
Commercial utilise smart software to rationalise and consolidate delivery runs to reduce vehicle fleet emissions, and are committed to exploring new ways to fuel the fleet in the future
Commitment to Alternative Fuels
First business in sector to explore the use of hydrogen-powered delivery vans, and in 2022 they initiated an all-electric London delivery fleet, powered by rooftop solar panels at their Perivale site
EcoVadis Platinum Medal
Every supplier Commercial work with must have EcoVadis accreditation; they also hold a EcoVadis Platinum medal as one of the top 1% of companies worldwide
