In December 2025, colleagues from across AKW and DLP came together to celebrate Christmas Jumper Day and raise money for people who need it at Christmas through holding a festive bake off event.
For a small donation, team members were encouraged to wear their favourite festive knits to the office and enjoy a variety of store bought and homemade sweet treats on offer, to help raise as much money as possible.
At AKW in Droitwich Spa and Middlewich, colleagues successfully raised £155.44 for Save the Children, with an additional £116.00 raised for their local food bank.
The team at DLP on the Isle of Man raised £142.89 for the Isle of Man Foodbank, the only food bank on the island, who have supported local people in crisis since 2013.
The Macmillan Coffee Morning is held annually at the end of September with AKW and DLP both big supporters of the campaign, often encouraging colleagues to dress down in the office in order to raise even more money in aid of the charity.
For four years running, colleagues across the business have baked or bought delicious treats, and taken time out of their busy work day to chat with peers over a coffee and slice of cake, all while raising money for a fantastic cause.
Over £1,842 has been raised since 2022, vital funds which will continue to make a difference for those living with and affected by cancer.
On Saturday 19th July 2025, Paul Tingey, Stuart Fearn, Andy Dominy, Joanne Odgers, Donna Lewitzkyi, Chris Williams (on behalf of wife Lauren Williams), and team leader Sharon Oldfield who was joined by her sons, Jacob and Ollie, braved the Pretty Muddy 5K Race for Life in aid of Cancer Research UK.
With events organised up and down the country every summer, the 5km course can be run, jogged or walked by those taking part and includes a number of grubby obstacles which offers challengers the chance to run, crawl, and slide through mud.
Thanks to generous donations from their friends, families and colleagues, team AKW have successfully raised over £1,700 (inc. Gift Aid) for 2025’s Pretty Muddy event!
We’re extremely proud to have taken part in five Pretty Muddy 5K Race for Life events, for which we have collectively raised over £10,500 (inc. Gift Aid) for Cancer Research UK since our first race in the summer of 2022.
On 27th June 2025, the team at DLP on the Isle of Man successfully fundraised £213.93 for Alder Hey Children’s Hospital Trust in Liverpool through organising an office Cake Sale.
Colleagues from across the company were encouraged to donate cake or cash to the cause, with additional funds raised through guessing how many sweets were in a jar, in which the keen eyes of Engineering Director Yanchun reigned victorious!
Alder Hey is ranked in the top 20 best specialised paediatric hospitals in the world and cares for over 450,000 children and young people every year.
On Wednesday 21st May 2025, AKW star bakers were put to the ultimate test at the Spring Bake Off, held in aid of Dementia UK’s annual ‘Time for a Cuppa’ campaign.
Ten volunteers submitted their finest bakes for blind judgement from their peers, with votes cast for the best looking and best tasting entries. Jo reigned supreme with her chocolate orange traybake which was voted the ‘Best Tasting’, with Joanne coming in close second with her pork and stuffing sausage rolls.
For the ‘Best Looking’ category, Sophie’s gloriously colourful rainbow cake took home first prize, after narrowly besting the beautifully decorated lemon drizzle cupcakes made by Kate.
A grand total £203.00 was raised for Dementia UK from generous donations towards the Spring Bake Off as well as a ‘dress down day’ which was held across the Droitwich Spa offices.
On 11th December 2024, colleagues from across AKW offices in Droitwich Spa and Middlewich, and DLP on the Isle of Man donned their most fabulous festive outfits in aid of Save the Children’s annual Christmas Jumper Day appeal, with over £130.00 raised for a great cause!
Following the success of our 2023 colleague raffle, in November 2024 we held a second annual raffle to fundraise for two charities as voted for by the AKW team – Acorns Children’s Hospice in Worcester and Cancer Research UK.
A whopping 28 prizes were donated by our generous network of suppliers, customers and colleagues to help us raise as much money as possible, with winners thrilled to win a Virgin experience day, Ninja Air Fryer, a variety of high street, restaurant and supermarket shopping vouchers, and bottles of champagne.
Thanks to everyone’s kindness, just under £1,500 was raised through the sale of raffle tickets, which AKW committed to top up to enable us to donate £750 to each of this year’s chosen charities. We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated prizes and bought tickets!
Colleagues from AKW in Droitwich Spa and Middlewich, and DLP on the Isle of Man hosted their third annual Macmillan Coffee Morning last week.
Every September, Macmillan Cancer Support promote their Coffee Morning campaign which aims to bring people together for catch up and a slice of something nice, all while raising vital funds for the charity.
A delicious variety of home-baked and store-bought treats were available for a donation at AKW’s Liberty House, Independence House and Parsons House on Wednesday 25th September 2024, with colleagues at DLP joining in with the fun on Friday 27th.
Thanks to everyone’s generosity, fantastic baking skills, and shared love of all things cake, over £300 was raised across the three AKW offices, with a further £288 collected by the team at DLP, a grand total of over £590, which will go towards invaluable care and support for people living with and affected by cancer.
On 13th July 2024, 14 AKW colleagues from our Droitwich Spa offices took on the Pretty Muddy 5K Race for Life at Worcester Racecourse.
The annual charity event requires eager participants to run, jog or walk a 5K distance, while tackling a number of wet and muddy obstacles along the way, which includes an inflatable slide with a delightful mud pit at the bottom!
Pretty Muddy veteran and Paul Tingey was joined by Matt Till, Donna Lewitzkyi, Jessica Hobbs, Joanne Odgers, Josie Davies, Kerry Diubek, Lauren Williams, Lisa Phillips, Lizzie Taylor, Samantha Smith, Sharon Oldfield, Tom Morgan and James Dufton, who smashed the course as we all knew they would!

‘Time for a Cuppa’ is an annual tea party which encourages us to make time for a cup of tea and a slice of cake, while fundraising for Dementia UK. So on Wednesday 22nd May 2024, AKW held a spring Bake Off challenge, with team members invited to secretly enter their best bakes for judgement by colleagues who were asked to donate to sample.
The entries were devoured within just two hours, with everyone tasked with voting for their favourites. The scores were close, but in the ‘Best Tasting’ category, Dayna reigned supreme with her Triple Chocolate Kinder Brownies, with Ian coming in second place with his Bailey’s Cheesecake. In the ‘Best Looking’ category, Lizzie took home first prize for her Chocolate & Lotus Biscoff Biscuit Flapjacks, with Sharon named runner-up with her Summer Berry Cheesecake.
£174.00 in aid of Dementia UK, money that will go towards supporting people affected by the condition – of which there are over 944,000 in the UK alone.
On Wednesday 13th December 2023, AKW held a Festive Bake Off fundraising event in aid of Acorns Children’s Hospice in Worcester.
Colleagues were invited to bring in their best homemade bakes which were then judged blindly by their peers who donated a minimum of £2 to sample the variety treats on offer and vote for the best looking and tasting entries.
£130.20 was raised with winners celebrated across the business for their savvy cooking skills.
In autumn 2023, AKW took part in the High Sheriff of Worcestershire’s Challenge which tasked us with fundraising £1,000 in aid of vulnerable children and young people living in our region.
After organising an internal colleague raffle in October, we raised a grand total of £1,135, a feat we achieved with the support of our suppliers and customers, who kindly provided a variety of exciting and generous raffle prizes.
To help make a greater difference to young people living locally, AKW increased the donation to £2,000, with representatives from the company presented with an award to acknowledge and thank us for our contribution.
Following the success and generosity displayed from our colleagues, a second internal raffle will be held in autumn 2024, with colleagues choosing to raise funds for Cancer Research UK and Acorns Children’s Hospice in Worcester.
After raising an incredible £3,350 for Cancer Research UK in 2022, Team AKW signed up to take part in not one, but two Pretty Muddy 5K Race for Life events this summer!
The first team of 6 volunteers – Laura Walsh, Emma Stanfield, Chris Noone, Marc Smith, Ellen Sheriff, and Rachel Louise Hughes – travelled to Tatton Park in Cheshire where they clambered over obstacles and got muddy, all in the name of charity on Saturday 24th June.
Our second team, comprised of Pretty Muddy veterans – Stuart Reynolds, Sam Francis, Matt Taylor, Lee Culloty, and Tom Morgan – as well as first timers – Lauren Jones, Lucy Milleret, Alison Keay, Daniel Lane, Lauren Williams, and Imre Juhasz – braved the track at Worcester Racecourse on Saturday 8th July, after some very fierce rain which only made the experience all the more muddy!
Between them Team AKW have raised over £3,300, another amazing feat to be proud of and a total that will make a massive difference to Cancer Research UK, a cause close to all our hearts.
Teams of keen quizzers battled for trivia supremacy in April 2023, at a coronation themed pub quiz organised and attended by staff from AKW HQ in Droitwich Spa.
Colleagues and friends from across departments met at The Old Cock Inn for a bowl of hot chilli, where they dressed in their best red, white, and blue outfits to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III.
Proceeds from the sale of tickets, combined with funds raised from an office ‘Dress Down Day’, and generous donations collected from a Grand National sweepstake were donated in aid of Dementia UK, a charity close to the hearts of many, especially AKW colleagues.
Over £225 was raised across all three events, with fun had by all!
Head office colleagues at AKW joined thousands of others across the UK as they donned their most festive outfits on Thursday 8th December 2022 in aid of Save the Children’s annual Christmas Jumper Day.
Over £168 was raised which will be doubled by the UK Government, who have this year pledged to double all funds raised by the appeal. All proceeds from this year’s event will go towards helping mums and children in need living in Kenya, where every year, 74,000 children die before reaching the age of five.
In 2022, AKW colleagues along with friends and family members attended two charity quiz nights in aid of Dementia UK, which were held at The Alma Tavern, Worcester in May, and The Old Cock Inn, Droitwich Spa in October.
Hosted by Customer Service Advisor and experienced quiz master Jon Wall, five teams enthusiastically battled it out and faced 50 trivia questions covering everything from music to geography.
Over £375.00 was raised for Dementia UK, a cause very close the hearts of the team at AKW, with many of our products specifically designed to help improve the lives of those with the condition.
In aid of the 2022 Macmillan Coffee Morning, on Friday 30th September colleagues from across AKW and DLP baked, bought and tucked in to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
A vast selection of cakes, biscuits, scones, and other delicious treats were available to purchase on the day, with additional funds raised by the team at AKW HQ through holding a ‘Dress Down Friday’ and giving staff the opportunity to guess the name of a teddy bear – Goldie – and approximate how many sweets were in a jar.
Over £567 was raised collectively across the three companies, more than the amount needed to fund two Macmillan nurses for a day.
On Saturday 9th July 2022, 22 head office colleagues from AKW took part in the Pretty Muddy 5K Race for Life at Worcester Racecourse in aid of Cancer Research UK.
Running as part of Team AKW were staff members from IT, Human Resources, Customer Services, Finance, Quality, Logistics, Product & Marketing, and Sales, along with General Manager Paul Tingey and UK Marketing & Product Management Director Stuart Reynolds.
With plenty of well wishes and support from friends, family and colleagues on the side lines, the team braved soaring temperatures as they ran, walked, crawled through tunnels, scrambled under cargo nets, and rode down a giant mud slide before triumphantly crossing the finish line where they were awarded a medal for their efforts.
Collectively the team has raised over £3,350 for charity, a feat we are extremely proud of.
